South Devon Kitesurf Club |
This site provides all the information you might need about kitesurfing in South Devon and contains a forum for all the members who will happily answer any questions you may have. Although we cover the whole of the South Devon area, invariably we are found at a few select beaches, depending on how the wind is blowing. Our spiritual home is Bantham, which together with Bigbury, works well in the prevailing winds that come from the West and South-West. When the wind swings from the East, we'll be at Paignton or Slapton, and if it comes from the North, well things get a little trickier, and we either head to North Devon or North Cornwall, although sometimes Exmouth will work as well. Note that the Exmouth Kitesurfers have their own club and own website. To join the SDKC online forum here is free. Just register with a username and your email address. You can then post messages, read the banter, hook up with other kiters and send Private Messages! Some of the banter might seem nasty, but many of us have become friends, and it's just the normal slating that friends give each other. Above all, don't take it too seriously. Note that due to aggressive spam filtering by providers such as hotmail, it's not possible to use email addresses with them. But, to kite responsibly on our beaches you must carry third party insurance. This costs around £30 when you join BKSA our umbrella organisation. Just join up via the BKSA site and select us as your local club. Easy! To ensure your safety and that of others, don't forget to get excellent instruction. Follow any local guidelines by reading the safety information and location guides listed in the menu options above. |
